Planning consent was gained for a number of roof alterations intended to rationalise the building’s roofscape:
To remove the existing 1960s rooflights and part of the existing parapet, installing a new Portland stone façade more attune with the dimension and rhythm of the existing windows below, with openings on both Montague Close and Borough High Street facades.
Fitting a new additional floor over the annex. The additional floor is formed of a new steel frame affixed to the existing RC frame. This new space, which will be used for offices, sets in 2m to minimise the impact on the local and longer views of the site and creating ideal space for a gardened terrace.
