Planning and listed building restrictions prevented an upward extension of this Grade II listed terraced house. With no space to extend at the rear, we worked with the architect to achieve consent for a basement extension as part of a complete renovation of the building.
The existing lower ground floor was lowered and extended under the front and rear gardens. Glazed roof lights in the front parking area maximise light to the front basement extension, and the rear terrace is completely glazed, bringing in as much daylight as possible.
The scheme has successfully delivered modern and highly practical living accommodation whilst preserving and enhancing the fabric of the original listed building.
